Las Vegas has one of the most interesting histories of anywhere in the US. From the moment that Las Vegas has come into existence, its history has consisted of events that are usually reserved for the world of fiction. Corruption, organized crime and a whole city based on the temptation are just the base of the iceberg. Vegas is a crazy city with a reputation that definitely requires a book, or perhaps even a multiple-volume series of books.
In The Money and the Power, it is possible to get a feel for the amount of influence that Las Vegas has on the rest of the country, and has had on the country for over fifty years. The authors are at times slightly preachy and seem to grasp at straws, but the stories in this book do make for interesting reading, even if they may not be 100% true. This best approach to take to this book is one of a book "based on a true story." While some of what the authors say sounds like it may be true, other chapters reek of conspiracy theory.

If you're looking for a book full of juicy gossip that may include some history on Las Vegas, pick this book up immediately. The book only runs around $10, and if nothing else is good for more than a few chuckles and an interesting story.
