Mensa Guide to Casino Gambling: Winning Ways
Written by Andrew Brissman, this is the guide to buy if you're wondering how mensa views gambling. Mensa, for those that don't know, is the society for geniuses. Yes, only the smartest of the smart make it into mensa, and the powers that be decided that it would be a smart move to put out a guide to casino gambling.
The book is well-written, and gives a great general overview of casino gambling. If you're planning on taking your first trip out to the casinos, this book is a great read and will give you the heads up on what to play and what to avoid, at least from a statistical outlook. While one expects a condescending tone from a mensa book for some reason, it is not to be found in the Mensa Guide to Casino Gambling. If there are any examples of the book seeming pretentious, they are few and far between, and too trivial to be of real concern. The book gives a great overview of the casinos, and doesn't try to tell you that you'll win big.
One of the best parts of this book is the fact that it has a chart listing the odds of almost every game you'll find in the casino. Great little page to look at before hitting the casinos: a nice reality check. The only negative about this book is that sometimes it gets slightly technical, which is not a bad thing but a little much for a book that is more of an overview than anything else.
