Guerrilla Gambling
Whether you agree or disagree with what he has to say, Frank Scoblete is a good writer, hands down. His wit and knowledge of the casino scene shines through in every book he has written and every column he pens as well. In this literary outing, Scoblete is attempting to aid the gambler that may be playing at the lower limit tables. If you are a high roller, this isn't a book for you. If you are counting your pennies in order to plan your next casino trip, you may want to count a few extra and pick up Guerrilla Gambling before you finish the plans.
Scoblete's stories are interesting, and his facts are usually on the mark. This is another volume in the "jack of all trades" genre of gambling book: the books that attempt to teach you a little about everything. This book does a good job of not just describing the games, but going into details on comps, coupons and a variety of other devices that may help you to save a few dollars during your trip to the casino.
If you are a casino regular, you probably know most of the tips in this book and should, at most, give it a glance through if you see it at the bookstore. If you are a new gambler, or are just getting in the swing of the scene, however, then this book is a wonderful tool in helping you get the most from your money.
At 339 pages, this is one that you are probably going to keep in your room and brush up on at nights, but it gives a good read. If you look around you can find used copies somewhere in the $5 range, instead of the $13 regular price tag. Go for the deal: why pay full price on a book that tells you how to cut corners?
