Ian Andersen succeeds in this follow-up to his classic book Turning the Tables on Las Vegas. This book goes into what it takes in order to be a gambling professional, and it doesn't stop at the tables. The one facet of this book that is somewhat unique is that Andersen understands the need for a mental tranquility that other writers often tend to skip over in their books and writings. Being a successful player does not start nor end at the tables, and Andersen does a terrific job of conveying these messages thoroughly.
This book isn't the best for beginners. While there are a few things that you could learn from this book, it is best to buy something geared towards the introductory level of play. Burning the Tables in Las Vegas is good for the advanced player, who knows how to count cards and has a level of familiarity with all of the casinos games as well as the way that casinos work in general.
The book is also filled with a number of stories chronicling the types of events that occur when you have decided to make professional gambling your life. Some of the stories sound a tad cliché, but that doesn't make them any less interesting or exciting.
This book is going to cost you over $18 for a new copy and $14 for a used copy, but it's a hardback book, and that's not a bad price. If you're interested in the way the pros play the games and want a primer for yourself, pick up this book.
