American Roulette
American Roulette
American roulette is a version of the European roulette. The difference is that American table has 38 slots represented by 0, 00 and numbers from 1 to 36. Also, all numbers except zeros are colored in their respective colors (red or black). The basic principle is the same - Chance and Randomnicity. There are still no special strategies or complex rules to play roulette - just bet and wait for the outcome on a spun wheel.
History
For detailed history see European roulette section.
Rules
Up to eight players can play roulette against the house represented by the dealer - croupier. The latter spins the roulette wheel and handles the wagers and payouts. The "Surrender" rule is sometimes available. You don't lose outside bets on a zero and double zero but you lose half of your bet. With this rule the house edge on the even-money bets is only 2.63% compared to 5.26% on other bets.
How to play
Roulette is played when a small ball spins on a round wheel with numbered slots. When the wheel stops, the ball falls in one of the slots. Players can bet on a combination of numbers, choose the color and oddness/evenness and the number itself. The size of the payoff and house edge depends on how the bets were placed.
You make bets by placing chips on the desired position on the table.
There are eight different kinds of bets available on the table same as in European table:
