The Rat Pack
By now most of us are familiar with a group that was dubbed "The Rat Pack" and their place in lore and mythology of Las Vegas. This was not a group in the normal sense of the word, but rather a transient group of entertainers who were playfully lumped together by media in the early part of the 1960's.
Despite the revolving door that was the membership of the Rat Pack, there was a core of six people who were always associated with the group. Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr., Joey Bishop, and Peter Lawford were the classic lineup of this clique. The ties that bound them went beyond carousing in Vegas clubs as this six headed monster appeared together in several feature films suck as Robin and the Seven Hoods and the original Ocean's Eleven.
Sinatra, Davis, and Martin, were the musicians of the group and could often be found singing together at various nightclub concerts. For the most part, these performances happened in Las Vegas. The shows themselves were comedy as well as music where they often parodied themselves and the image of the Rat Pack that had been created by the media.
In the past, much, both good and bad, has been written about acts that were perpetrated by this faction from the entertainment world. Nothing take away the Nostalgic feeling one gets for old Vegas when you hear the crooning of the trio of singers, or watch one of the films that they made together.
