Penn and Teller
Watching Penn and Teller perform is akin to having a comedic out of body experience. In other words, this is not your average magic show. If your looking for cheesy dignity, you can find David Copperfield.
Most of us are aware of some of the obvious points of the act; Teller behaves like a mute while Penn does things to his silent partner which would get him an attempted murder conviction anywhere outside the bounds of the stage. In reality though, the chemistry between the two has been forged by a partnership that has lasted over thirty years.
The two of them met in 1975. Teller was an accomplished magician whose act bordered on creepy and Penn was a graduate of the prestigious Clown College and master juggler. Putting these two together was like combining chocolate and sauerkraut, but the formula worked. Over the last three decades Penn and Teller have been featured on television, film, and have authored three best selling books. Occasionally they seem as surprised by their success as anyone else. They describe themselves as "a couple of eccentric guys who have learned how to do a few cool things."
In the opinion of many, one of the coolest things they have done was making Las Vegas the home of their live performance. Penn & Teller currently appear nightly (except Tuesdays) in Las Vegas at the Rio All-Suite. This does make a certain amount of sense. A city where you can get married by an Elvis impersonator is one of the few places where these two can feel like they fit in.
