Celine Dion
Celine Dion litterally came out of nowhere. Well, if not nowhere, her home town of Charlemagne, Quebec is about as close to nowhere as a body can get. From this small town came a singer who would become one of the brightest, international stars of the entire music scene.
Celine was the youngest child born to Adhemar and Therese Dion. She was one of 14 children, so early on she became used to large audiences. Her singing career started at the age of 5 when she would entertain the guests at her father's piano bar. While still a pre-teen, she penned her first song "Ce N'etait Qu'un RĂªve" ("It Was Only a Dream"), which she recorded with the help of her mother and brother. The tape was sent off to a manager named Rene Angelil. It was to Rene's great fortune that the method the family had used in choosing someone to send the tape to was a simple matter of looking at names on the back of a Ginette Reno album, and selecting one nearly at random.
The combination of Angelil's market savvy combined with Celine's incomperable voice worked well. Since that first, clumsy recording, the two of them have sold over 100 million albums worldwide. The partnership clicked on other levels as well, and the two eventually married.
The lure of Vegas is hard for anyone to ignore and not even Celine Dion is immune from the temptation. She now performs regularly to packed houses at the Ceasar's Palace Colleseum.
