Jersey Casinos Face Uncertain Future

In Atlantic City the casinos are quiet and the tourists are looking for something to do after the doors of the gambling houses in the East Coast Las Vegas were shut in reaction to a government shortfall in the New Jersey budget of $4.5 billion dollars. The casinos were affected by this shortfall because the government employees who regulate their business were not allowed to report for work while the law makers decided what is to be done about the deficit. Early morning gamblers Wednesday were greeted with a loudspeaker announcement telling them to leave their games and exit the premises. Some gamblers, down on their luck, were returning from a break to try and win their money back and found the doors barred. Local businesses, dependant on gamblers who spend their winnings in the area, are as worried as the casinos themselves.
