Casino Too Successful, Customers Walking Away

Open just a year ago, the newest casino in Manitoba, the South Beach casino, is located in the Brokenhead First Nation and has seen its dream of success slowly turned into a nightmare. Their blackjack and slot machines are so popular that they are actually losing customers who get tired of standing in unreasonably long lines. As a result, the casino is requesting from the South Beach board that they are able to double their current complement of 300 slot machines in order to handle the popularity. Provincial officials say that they will not consider adding new machines until May 2007 and to date have turned down every request made by the casino.
