Cagayan de Oro Chamber of Commerce and Industry Foundation, Inc. have floated a casino proposition for the city that sounds very familiar to the one proposed by Mayor Vicente Emano from time to time. The idea isn’t new, and neither is the fact that the Cagayan Archdiocese is not changing its position, being vocal in opposition to any casino in Cagayan de Oro. During a radio interview with Chamber President Ruben Vegafria, the president pointed out that a casino in Cagayan means more jobs for the citizens, following the influx of foreign tourists that are sure to come to the casino. Mayor Vicente Emano has mentioned that new casinos could be put into the new hotels that have already been built in Cagayan de Oro.
